What goes in, and where it goes
- What it accepts
- One PDF at a time, and a signature you either draw or type. A typed name is set in an italic serif and can use standard Latin characters — no emoji or non-Latin scripts, which the standard PDF fonts cannot represent.
- What you get back
- One PDF with the signature drawn on the page you chose. Everything else is untouched: page count, order, sizes, rotation and the document's title all stay as they were.
- Where your file is processed
- Sign PDF runs in your browser. The document and the signature are both used only inside this tab — the signature you draw never becomes a file on our side, because there is no our side. Neither is ever uploaded, and nothing is kept once you close the tab.
Common questions
Is this a legally binding digital signature?
It is a visual signature — a mark drawn on the page, exactly like signing a printout and scanning it. It is not a cryptographic digital signature: there is no certificate, no identity verification, and no tamper detection. Whether a visual signature is enough depends on your jurisdiction and on what you are signing, and that is a question for a lawyer rather than for us.
Can someone tell the signature was added afterwards?
Yes, in the sense that any PDF tool can see it as a separate drawing on the page. This does not claim otherwise, and it does not try to hide it. What it cannot do is prove a document has not been altered since — that is what a certificate-based signature is for.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and it is the case it was built for — drawing with a finger is the whole point. The signature box takes touch input directly, and the page preview lets you drag the mark into place.
What happens on a page that was scanned sideways?
The signature is placed where you see it and turned to face the same way you are reading. A page's stored rotation and its visible orientation are different things, and getting that wrong is how a signature ends up running up the side of a page — or off it entirely.
