Common questions
Will this make my file smaller?
Usually not, and that isn't what it does. This changes the page size — the dimensions of the sheet — not the number of bytes. The tool for a smaller file is Compress PDF. The two get confused constantly because "resize" is used for both, which is why this page says so plainly.
Will my content get stretched?
No. Content is scaled by the same factor in both directions and centred, so a page whose proportions differ from the sheet gets even margins on the two sides that don't fill — the same thing "fit to page" does in a print dialog. Nothing is ever cropped.
What happens to landscape pages?
By default they stay landscape, on a landscape version of the sheet you picked — a wide page shouldn't be squeezed into a portrait band. If you want everything on the same orientation, the Portrait and Landscape options do exactly that.
Can I set a custom size?
Not yet. The five standard sheets cover the cases people actually bring, and a free-text size needs a unit picker and its own validation to be trustworthy rather than a source of surprises.
